UNYT and the National Library of Albania – An Academic Visit

The Rector of the University of New York Tirana Prof. Dr. Ismail KOCAYUSUFOĞLU had a meeting with the Director of the National Library of Albania Mr. Piro MISHA. In the meeting, the Rector of the UNYT and the Director jointly emphasized the importance of education on increasing the young generation’s capacities for Albanian society.

Mr. Misha emphasized the importance of the National Library collections not only based on the historical aspects, but also on the research purposes. Among other topics of discussions, the Director of the National Library presented to the Rector Prof. Dr. KOCAYUSUFOĞLU the new projects of the institution that he is directing, and among the most important projects, he emphasized the collection of books and manuscripts from the Ottoman studies as well as the dedication of a special area in the library to the Ottoman Studies and Literature. The Rector of UNYT expressed his commitment to collaborate in this important undertaking not only for the National Library but also for the academic sector and the Albanian society.

The Rector emphasized that UNYT through the European and Balkan Research Institute will be actively engaged in this project, and under the direction of the Turkish Maarif Foundation we will support this important project.
