UNYT Holds the First International Student Congress -Virtual Congress
Young researchers across the Globe take part at the first student-led virtual congress
The International Student Congress with the support of the University of New York Tirana, part of the Turkish Maarif Foundation successfully conducted the first (entirely) student-led virtual congress titled “The Power of Effective Communication: Challenges and Opportunities” which took place on 27 July 2020.
International education is of crucial importance to the University of New York Tirana. International students are at the heart of best practice across our education and training agenda. Students from Albania, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Egypt, Georgia, India, Kosovo, Malaysia, Pakistan, Palestine, Philippines, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine enriched the International family of the University of New York Tirana.
The International Student Congress had the honor to welcome the President of the Turkish Maarif Foundation, Prof.Dr. Birol Akgun, H.E Ambassador of Turkey in Albania, Mr.Murat Ahmet Yörük, and the Rector of the University of New York in Tirana, Prof.Dr.Ismail Kocayusufoglu as honorable guests.
During the opening session, the Turkish Maarif Foundation President, Prof.Dr. Birol Akgün, said: “I want to congratulate the University for this amazing Congress. Bringing together 17 countries from across the world, young researchers who with their leadership and success brought us hope for the future. Turkish Maarif Foundation is now active with 333 educational institutions, with more than 40,000 students. The Maarif Foundation has become a leading institution for Turkey in the field of education with its schools in 43 countries,” he said.
“I would like to mention that UNYT has a unique status not only in Albania but round-reach. As the representative of the Republic of Turkey, I would like to underline our continuous support and solidarity for the University of New York Tirana, for their continuous success. I wish all of you a very successful and fruitful congress.” were some of the words of H.E Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Albania, Mr.Murat Ahmet Yörük.
“The international impact scale at our University is something that we are very proud of, that we gladly embrace and that we want to make sure that this sense of openness to the world is something that we continue to build upon. This meeting shows that we are all united, no matter what the challenges of life are. By working hard we can build on good values for our future.” were some of the words of the Rector of UNYT, Prof.Dr. Kocayusufoğlu.
The congress featured five panels focusing on four main themes, such as: Political and IR Issues, Social and Law Issues, Economic and Health Issues, and Technology Issues. The presentations addressed in congress were of great importance to our shared global development. We must draw lessons from The Power of Effective Communication, Challenges, and Opportunities being used during this crisis, forward to reach our goals.
The leading role of youth in participating in such congresses not only enhances their capabilities and boosts their self-confidence, but it also gives them a voice in modeling a continuous, fair and a just future.
