The 2nd International Symposium on Turkish Language Teaching and Turkology in the Balkans

The 2nd International Symposium on Turkish Language Teaching and Turkology in the Balkans, with the theme of 'Cultural Interaction,' commenced today through the collaboration of Turkish Maarif Foundation, University of New York Tirana, Istanbul University, and Turkish Language Institution (TDK), with the support of TIKA and hosted by Istanbul University. The symposium organizer, Turkish Maarif Foundation, continues its international educational activities with 441 schools, a university, and 52,000 students in 52 countries across six continents.

The first International Symposium on Turkish Language Teaching and Turkology in the Balkans occurred at Turkish Maarif Foundation, University of New York on September 7-9, 2022. The Symposium, which received considerable attention, saw the participation of academicians and researchers from Türkiye, Albania, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Serbia, Croatia, Greece, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Cyprus, Turkish Republic, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan. A total of 45 papers were presented during the Symposium. UNYT Press published the Symposium Proceedings Book in April 2023.

The 2nd International Symposium on Turkish Language Teaching and Turkology in the Balkans will be hosted by Istanbul University on December 13-15, 2023. This year's Symposium, with the theme of 'Cultural Interaction,' has received paper submissions from academicians and researchers in 20 different countries. Of the 97 recommendations, 55 have been accepted by the scientific committee and deemed suitable for presentation during the Symposium.

On the first day of the three-day Symposium, in addition to paper sessions, a special session titled 'Turkish Literature in the Balkans from Past to Present' will take place, featuring invited speakers. Panels on 'Cultural Interaction from Anatolia to the Balkans' and 'Cultural Interaction in Language and Literature' will also be organized. The Symposium, which will explore cultural interaction between Anatolia and the Balkans from the past to the present in various contexts, will conclude with a historical and cultural tour in Istanbul, serving as a bridge between Asia and Europe.
