The University of New York in Tirana along with it’s students had the privilege to host their first open forum of the season with a very special guest from the United States of America, Professor James I. Deutsch. James Deutsch is a curator and editor at the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage, where he has helped plan and develop programs and exhibitions on the Peace Corps, Apollo Theater, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Hungary, Mekong River, U.S. Forest Service, World War II, Silk Road, and White House workers.

Prof. Deutsch has also taught American Studies classes at universities in Armenia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Germany, Kyrgyzstan, Norway, Poland, and Turkey. Overall, he has held more than 60 different jobs, including newspaper reporter, librarian, park ranger/forest ranger, census enumerator, and monorail operator at Walt Disney World. Our students had the chance to get a first hand insight on the actual electoral process in America.

This great chance brought together interested students despite their major to join, listen and question any of the concerns on this years, world wide known race between the candidates of the Republican and Democratic party, respectively Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton.
