On Wednesday, 9th of October, the Rector of the University of New York in Tirana, Prof. Dr. Ismail Kocayusufoglu, held a Welcoming Meeting, where some of the plans for the year and priorities for UNYT were set forth.
“This is an important day for us. This is the day that we are together on our achievements and our improvements. We are a family and we are now even a stronger family under the umbrella of the Maarif Foundation.
Let me extend a warm welcome to the new members of our University.
We should not be content with showing only the academic part of this University, but we have to let our heart burn with loving-kindness for all our students, which makes this family bigger. We have to be a light for each other. Integrity and ethics are what distinguishes us. Let our vision be universally inclusive. Let us fill our days with positivity and kindness toward each other.
Our lives have, of course, always been challenged by disruptive changes and large-scale conflicts. But now we are in many ways in a calmer and more peaceful place than we have have been in the past.
The University of New York Tirana should be a gravitational force. We must pull other high quality institutions and important stakeholders towards us, not estrange them. We are going to be an important contributor to the coming generations and the society they will live in. I am pleased we are together on this mission.
IN SEPTEMBER 2018, UNYT BECAME:
- The Member of EMUNI – Euro Mediterranean University Union
- The Member of BUA – Balkan University Association – March 2019
- The Member of EUA – European University Association – April 2019
We have established the Research Center where not only academicians but also students will be involved in Research.
UNYT will hold the 1st International Student Congress here in Tirana, in November 2019. This is a good example of the vision of UNYT and Maarif Foundation. Fifty students from 50 different countries will take part in this Congress.
UNYT will become more and more active on the INTERNATIONAL stage.
ERASMUS, MEVLANA… The exchange/MOBILITY program has already started. UNYT is in collaboration with many universities – from all over the world.
We had wonderful partnerships with international and national institutions. Some of them are BKT, YTB, and Lufthansa, among others.
In addition, I am excited to share with you that we are launching a Counseling Center, to act as a bridge between students and academia.
Academia at the UNYT should allow us to see scholarly and scientific activities as a rich and unexplained life, ready to be opened up and the fruits inside shared. Within our respective faculties and in cooperation with our international partners, we will share the fruits from our own labor as well as with other institutions and countries’. The result is that insight and academic development spreads throughout the world, just as is the mission of the Maarif Foundation.
Presently, we find ourselves only at the start of the race. We must put emphasis on the fact that knowledge is a common good. It belongs to all people in all parts of the world.”
